What is the question that writer is trying to answer? (focus)
2)
Does the writer answer that question?
- Look
at each paragraph—how does this answer or relate to my questionIs
the paper clearly organized?

Does the
writer make clear why evidence is reliable?
- Habits
of Mind: a.How do we know what we know? What is the evidence? How do
I know when evidence is good?
b. Who's speaking? How do her point of view and mine affect how I view
the evidence? Does it come from a reliable source? What makes that source
reliable? (types of web sites, authors, what their experience is, what
their position is, credentials--academic, expertise in the field) answers
question
Is it clear how the evidence relates to the paper?
- 4) Is the
paper effectively and clearly organized?
- Does
the writer organize by topics, by importance, by patterns, by cause
and efffect?
Are ideas connected? Are they not repeated?
Do transitions help readers see that organization?
Do transitions show connections among ideas?
