Project Description

The Use of Data Bases in Diachronic Research
Issues in the use and architecture of data bases to support diachronic research in morphology and morphosyntax. Dealing with three different Spanish corpora (CORDE, CdE, DB). Issues with labeling (automatic and manual). Reliability and inter-subjectivity of specific analyses. Classes of underlying textual foundations (critical editions, single ms reproductions, etc.)

This is an open-ended project deriving from the practical work with such data bases and the experiences and insights gained in this way. The eventual product will be a research article. Some ideas have already been developed in my 2005 article (The corpus as a key to diachronic explanation. Romanistische Korpuslinguistik II/Romance Corpus Linguistics II, ed. Claus D. Pusch, Johannes Kabatek and Wolfgang Raible, 31-44. Tübingen: Narr; ScriptOralia).
