Contributions are solicited for a book with ten essays tracing the impact of American culture on the following European countries: France, East/West Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Netherlands/Benelux, Poland/Central Europe, Scandinavia, Spain, and the Soviet Union/Russia. Each essay would employ an interdisciplinary approach to analyze the reception of American culture, including an emergence of cultural anti-Americanism, in one of these countries. It is suggested that the following topics are addressed in every contribution:
At an early stage of the project contributors will have the opportunity to discuss the parameters of the book during a week-long workshop planned at the Rockefeller Center in Bellagio, Italy, or a similar facility. Funding for travel to this workshop and for publication subsidies has been secured.
