General Background:
My current research interest centers on how conservative religious and political narratives are narrated and taught through "secular" or popular texts, such as MTV's "16 and Pregnant" and the Twilight series. My research questions center around what these narratives are saying about women's bodies; what social, political, and cultural events lead to these claims; and why the use of fear, in particular, is so prominent in these narratives. My fields of study include visual and narrative cultures, sexuality studies, and religion and American culture.
