Guidelines for the Writing Component of Your Web Page

As detailed in the syllabus, you will have the option of having the Web page that you work on in class count for one of the two required special projects. If you choose to do this assignment for one of those projects, you must observe the following guidelines.

The criteria I use to grade your Web documents will not be highly different from what I have used for your other papers. You should have a clear sense of an audience apart from me that you are trying to reach, and you should write effectively to carry out your intentions. A technically sophisticated page will make a good impression on me, but the other performance characteristics mentioned here will matter even more.

You will e-mail me all the files that your page consists of (including any graphics) by May 27 (a Sunday—send the files earlier if you don’t have access to a computer on the weekend). The e-mail should contain the files as attachments.

Any Web page project will be displayed on the 110C course page during the last week of class. Unless you send me an e-mail telling me otherwise, your page may continue to be on the Web for several months to come.
