OSU SSAST 2012 / Additional Travel Information

Airfare is not included in the price of the program. Each participant will be responsible for their own reservation, and payment will be made directly to an airline or travel agency (not to OSU). Any airline and travel agency can be used. The three-digit code for the Córdoba, Argentina airport is COR.

Most travelers will leave the U. S. on Monday, June 18, arriving the next day in Córdoba, where they will be picked up at the airport and taken to the home of their host family. An on-site orientation is scheduled for Wednesday morning, June 20. The last day of class will be Wednesday, July 4. The return flight for most participants will leave Córdoba on Thursday, July 5 and arrive in the U.S. on Friday, July 6. Students who need to leave Córdoba sooner may do so anytime after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.

Airport pick-up/drop off will be provided in Argentina, although this will be limited to certain days and times.

The time in Argentina is three hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (as opposed to five hours behind GMT for Eastern Standard Time). Since the U.S. will be observing Daylight Savings Time during the summer, there will be a one-hour time difference between Argentina and Columbus, OH (Eastern Daylight Time) while we are there. (When it's noon on the U.S. East Coast, it will be 1:00 p.m. in Argentina.)

The program includes accommodations from Tuesday, June 19 through Thursday, July 5. Students are free to arrive in Córdoba before June 19 and/or remain there after July 5. If they would like to spend the additional time with their host family, arrangements can be made. Our hosts will need to know in advance the exact dates of everyone's stay, and, if payment is due for extra days, it will be made directly to the Argentine program staff, rather than to OSU.

An optional three-day excursion to Buenos Aires is being scheduled for June 29-July 1 and is not included in the program fees. The cost of the trip is $779 per person. Details will be provided well in advance of the SSAST program deadline. Those who wish to remain in Córdoba may do so, and their room and board continue to be covered.
