Subscribing to the listserv is relatively easy.  Just follow these steps when you send the subscription email:

1. address the email to listserver@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu
2. leave the subject line blank
3. in the message field, write "subscribe image Firstname Lastname" (of course, you should replace "firstname" and "lastname" with your own name.)
4. send that thing!

If all goes well, you should get a confirmation email from the listserv bot telling you that you've been successfully subscribed.  From then on, you can post to the list (the list's address is image@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu .)  Keep in mind that you can only post from the account that's subscribed to the list--for example, if you originally subscribed under your osu account, you can't send a post from your hotmail account).
