Each teacher chooses one of the ten Themes, such as Family in the U.S., Sports and Recreation in U.S. Culture, etc. The Theme is divided into 4 topics, each representing one daily lesson. Some of the topics
are suggested/determined by Wuhan
University, but each teacher usually has the
chance to invent one or more topic lessons which
reflect his/her own interest and specialty.
Another
aspect of the curriculum is teaching public
speaking skills. Each day, each student
should have the chance to participate in fun, interactive lessons. Daily activities might be giving an impromptu
speech in front of the class, engaging
in a debate with other students, or doing a role-play.
In the beginning of the summer, teachers
teach small lessons about general public
speaking skills, and throughout the summer
the students work on preparing a formal
speech, which is given on the last day of
class. |
