General Background:
My dissertation project focuses on using feminist political theory and critical contract theory to assess how grassroots antipoverty activists renegotiate citizenship rights through social activism. Other areas of research interest include: gender and poverty, feminist critiques of neoliberalism, grassroots activism and social movements.

My teaching experience includes WS 101: Introduction to Women's Studies; WS 320: Special Topics in Women's Studies - Gender, Race, and Poverty in the U.S.; and WS 320: Special Topics in Women's Studies - Women, Citizenship, and Social Activism.

I am also very involved in community initiatives for women and girls across Central Ohio and enjoy projects that work across academic and community lines. I am a longstanding volunteer with Amethyst, Inc. and am a member of the YWCA Gen Y Leadership Project, an 18-month long philanthropic and leadership-development project for young Columbus women. I also write and record monthly commentaries for WOSU NRP news radio, 820AM.
