General Background:
Tim is a Ph.D. candidate researching the affective dynamics of social movement rhetoric. His dissertation project works across the overlapping and reticulate movements of anti-globalization, local/slow food, and radical environmentalism. He is co-creator and currently serves on the editorial board of Harlot: A Revealing Look at the Arts of Persuasion, a netroots project aimed at provoking rhetorical literacy for everyday life.

For his class, "Rhetoric & Dissent," Tim was given the 2008 Vera Carter Cooley Award for Excellence in Teaching First-Year Composition. He is also winner of The Eric Walborn Award for Excellence in Digital Media and English Studies Instruction and the Kitty O. Locker Prize for Excellence in Professional and Business Communication (with Kate Comer). In 2010 Tim was awarded the Graduate Associate Teaching Award, the university's highest recognition of teaching by graduate students. A few things that fascinate him include: writing in the third person, alienation from the means of production, Kenneth Burke's mustache, and the Tao of Being Brakeless.
