Established in 1993, the conference is held more or less annually, most recently on November 10-11, 2000. It is organized by the graduate students here at Ohio State and sponsored by the history department, the College of Humanities, and the Mershon Center. The conference attracts graduate students nationwide and has featured as keynote speakers such major historians as John Shy, Timothy Travers, Holger Herwig, Gerhard Weinberg, and George C. Rable.
