Nathan's' Campfire Margarita

(Located close to the Rivermen's camp ground in Fayetteville, WV)
The Maven's had spent the day Whitewater rafting on the New River in West Virginia. We got completely soaked while rafting on the river and then soaked again later as we dashed from the comforts of the Red Dog River Saloon, where we were viewing our rafting video, into a torrential downpour to put the top up on our convertible.

However, our desire to find the perfect Margarita was not extinguished. We first tried Margaritas at the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurante. Then we accepted an invitation, from a long-time biking friend - Patty - to a campfire put together by a group of long-time rafters, coincidentally across the road.

The beverage of choice at campsite was beer. The Maven's were unwilling to mix beverages from the earlier sampling, so our fair hostess, Claire, generously broke open her private stock of Cuervo tequila. Newly arriving college rafters provided a fresh source of clean ice while Nathan, our newest bartender, went to his roving bar in the trunk of his car and prepared one of the best Margaritas we have experience, without the benefit of any light other than the campfire.

Interestingly enough, in this atmosphere, none of the Mavens minded the lack of salt nor the red plastic stemware they were given. The hospitality of the group was quite touching and Nathan gets high marks for his ingenuity.

We give Nathan's' Campfire Margaritas a rating of 8+!!
