Pre-Modern Japanese History History 548.01

This course treats the history of Japan from the earliest times to the beginning of the nineteenth century. It covers the subjects of politics, economic development, social trends and elements of the history of ideas and religion, samurai, and women. In addition, the course will concern itself with Japan's interaction with mainland civilizations.
