The development of the teaching module is in an early stage. The module has not been taught yet, so the exercises have not been completed by students. This needs to be done so that the module can be improved upon, adding and deleting aspects where needed to make the module as effective and interesting for the students as possible.

Two future questions I hope to investigate are:

  1. Does instruction in critical analysis of the Internet make a difference in the way people use the Internet?
  2. Does instruction in critical analysis of the Internet make a difference in the way people view the content of web pages?

Other research in media literacy might involve investigating the following questions:

  1. Does media/screen literacy education lead people to be more active participants in democracy?
  2. Are media/screen literate parents more likely to discuss media content with their children and/or encourage critical viewing of media in their children?
  3. Does instruction in media/screen literacy make a difference in the way people design media content, i.e. personal web pages?

Regardless of what particular questions are researched, more discussion of the various literacies that new technology creates a need for to be discussed.
