Who's Who in the FYWP?

The staff members of the First-Year Writing Program include a variety of positions and types of appointments. The Director, Professor Wendy Hesford, is an associate professor of English. The Assistant Director, Dr. Edgar Singleton, serves on an administrative and professional appointment. The Program Assistant, Carolyn Wilkins, is a civil service employee. Three graduate students serve for four quarters as writing program administrators (WPAs) as graduate administrative associates.

Approximately five additional graduate students serve as peer mentors for two quarters on 20 percent appointments also as graduate administrative associates, in combination with an additional appointment in the Department. WPAs and peer mentors are selected in spring quarter and begin their terms in summer and autumn quarters, respectively.
