General Background:
Roxann Wheeler (Associate Professor) (Ph.D., Syracuse University): Eighteenth-century literature and culture, particularly race, empire, and slavery. Author of The Complexion of Race: Categories of Difference in Eighteenth-Century British Culture and of articles on labor, slavery, servitude, as well as whiteness and the novel. Also teaches courses in feminist theory and the history of emotion and theory of affect.
