Churches of Moscow
The churches of Moscow show the city's medieval heritage more than any other buildings. It was just that heritage which Peter the Great, a rather irreligious man, sought to leave behind when he founded the new capital of
St. Petersburg some three hundred years ago. The medieval heritage of Moscow was hated even more by Stalin, who destroyed many churches and had plans to demolish others.
