The city of Xian conserves many important vestiges of Chinese tradition as do nearby archeological sites such as the famous terracotta warriors. During the celebrations of Chinese New Year, the citizens of Xian are fond of viewing recreations of the Chinese past. The picture at left shows a traditional tent, a yurt, from the vast region of Xinjiang, an area that is sometimes called China's Wild West.
