General Background:
Elizabeth Hewitt (Associate Professor) (Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University): Early American and 19th century American and African American literature and poetry. Author of Correspondence and American Literature, 1770-1865 (Cambridge University Press, 2004). Currently working on the intersection of economics and literature, particularly focused on the relationship between authorship and corporate capitalism, between romance and the logic of modern commerce.
